The Right to Grow is initiative in Hull that reflects a growing recognition of the importance of making open space more accessible for food growing. It also aligns with Hull’s ambition of becoming a greener, healthier and more resilient city. The aim is to encourage local ownership of small patches of land and repurpose them for projects such as growing food, encouraging wildlife and improving the open areas for the benefit of the local community.

Specifically, ExploreHU4 is an invitation to residents and local groups to look at the place where you live with fresh eyes and think of new ways in which you can make the area a more welcoming place that people can be proud of. I created the maps below in collaboration with HU4 Community Trust, Hull Food Partnership, Hull City Council. The map below is being used as an engagement tool within the local authority and with local residents to help develop a coherent strategy around the Right to Grow. The above Edible Map is based around Boothferry Road HU4. It was produced with the help of HU4 Community Trust, based at 18 Sibelius road Hull Hu4 7NH hu4 Kingston upon Hull, UK. For more information on the amazing work of the trust visit www.hu4communitytrust.co.uk.
